Author Mary Jane Appel discusses her new biography of Illinois native Russell Lee, the most prolific photographer of the Great Depression. While Lee’s work is widely known and his photographs have become mainstays in popular culture, Lee himself has remained elusive. Appel shares her twenty year journey researching Russell Lee’s life and work.
