Event Details

The Long Shadow traces slavery's history from America's founding up through its insidious ties to racism today.

Evergreen Park Public Library is partnering with over 20 Illinois libraries to offer free streaming of the documentary film, The Long Shadow, during the week of June 21-28.

The Long Shadow follows two white Southern filmmakers as they travel the roads of oppression and suppression to reveal the connections of slavery and strong-arm Southern politics to the current racial strife in America. The film is a disturbing story about the lingering human cost of ignorance, intolerance, and inaction in the US, casting a long shadow over our national identity and imperfect democracy.

You can view the recording and RSVP for the discussion at:  http://thelongshadowfilm.com/illinois-libraries/
